Salton Sea & Salvation Mountain

January 14, 2012
Went to the Salton Sea and Salvation Mountain this weekend, we had a great time. We were not the only photographers there; there was a group, maybe a photography club, of about a dozen or so photographers enjoying the many photographic opportunities. As we were leaving Bombay Beach another group came in to do a photo shoot. There were two models in long white dresses and two photographers. They had a large 24” silver beauty dish, a couple of 3’ Softboxes and other camera gear. Darla and I took close to 800 pictures between the both of us. Here are some of our favorite photos (not necessarily the best, but our favorites).

This photo was taken at Bombay Beach, Salton Sea. I found it interesting that the picture behind the chair survives and is such great shape.

The next photo was taken at the Salvation Mountain. Darla and the person at the top of Salvation Mountain give you a perspective on the size of this place. I enjoyed the variety of colors used on the mountain.

The next photo is the living quarters of Leonard Knight the creator of Salvation mountain (he is currently in the hospital).

The next photo was taken at Bombay Beach, Salton Sea. The green fish is a real fish and was the color as you see it in the photo.

The next photo was taken at Bombay Beach, Salton Sea. I like the composition of this photo, looking through a hollowed window frame on the remains of a building at the remains of the building.

The next photo was taken at Salvation Mountain. Looking through a broken bus door window at the side mirror.
